Superyacht Shipyard To Launch Satellite For Ship Networking
July 20th, 2023 – Superyacht Shipyard, a shipbuilding company that specializes in luxury shipbuilding, announced that it is planning to launch a nano-satellite in August 2024 using the CubeSat 3U format for ship networking and connectivity. NASA’s CubeSat Launch initiative (CSLI) provides opportunities for small satellite payloads to fly on rockets planned for upcoming launches. These CubeSats are usually flown as auxiliary payloads on previously planned missions. Nano-satellites weighing less than one pound have become the standard as a miniature networking platform. The process includes the launch, operation, and maintenance. The satellite will enter low earth orbit and is set to be used for ship networking for the Superyacht Shipyard fleet of vessels including yachts, superyachts, submarines, and cargo ships. Managing Director of Superyacht Shipyard, Kambiz Mostofizadeh said “Superyacht Shipyard networking satellite will allow for better systems integration so it is a perfect inter-connectivity tool for creating our proprietary network. Superyacht Shipyard fleet of vessels will have inter-connectivity capabilities allowing them to interact in real time, giving us a distinct advantage in operations and allowing for significant cost reduction over time. The satellite will feature a simple graphical user interface designed to allow our technical staff to make the most of its capabilities”. The Superyacht Shipyard SS99 Satellite is being planned to launch in August 2027.
